Grab your gals and get to Athens!
See why Ohio Brew Week could be one of the best girl trips of the summer!
First things first. Let’s start with the beer. It is Ohio Brew Week, after all. I, for one, LOVE craft brews. Think they aren’t for you? Perhaps… but you may be surprised. How about a what ale with peaches & apricot? That’s what you’ll get with a Jackie O’s Kinda Fuzzy. Or, one of my personal favs, the Bumble Berry – a honey blueberry Ale from Fat Heads Brewing Co. available in bottles at The Cat’s Eye this week. A full list of brews and where to find them are available on the OBW site – HERE.
This year, Ohio Brew Week coincides with the 30 Mile Meal Restaurant Week. Oh the epicurean joy! Local food partners around Athens County will be featuring dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Grab the gals and head to one of my favorite
breweries, Little Fish, to sip brews and dine on THE BEST grits ever (and much more) from The Cajun Clucker.
On Friday, July 15, Ohio Brew Week officially kicks off at The Ohio University Inn with the annual Rock N’ Roast. Enjoy BBQ prepared by the chefs at Cutler’s Restaurant, brews by Elevator Brewing and live music from Backwords Band from 5:00-9:30.
If local food is what you crave, check out a list of restaurants participating in Restaurant week HERE. #YUM.
Much of Ohio Brew Week is centered around Court Street in Uptown Athens; Ohio’s most eccentric half mile. Known for locally owned boutiques, galleries and retail shops, it’s a savvy-shopper’s dream. Vendors will also be marketing their goods during Last Call; an all day street event featuring music, dancing, brews, shopping and more. Festive fun happening on the historic bricks of Court Street.
Grab your best girls and go out dancing! So much musical talent in Athens and much of it will be on display during Ohio Brew Week. Find live music nightly at many of the
uptown restaurants and pubs including Casa Nueva, The Smiling Skull Saloon and Jackie O’s.
And finally, end a fun filled week with the gals with the aforementioned Last Call. This day and evening long street festival combines all of the best of Ohio Brew Week; the brews, food, art, music, dancing and more, right on the bricks of Court Street. Eat, shop, sip, dance and mingle with your people in the summer sun, in the greatest place ever. An true Athens experience.
