Diner Day Wednesday: Tammy’s Country Kitchen

We’d like to invite you along our tasty food journey; welcome to Diner Day Wednesdays! Each Wednesday, for the foreseeable future, the entire staff of the Athens County Visitors Bureau will be dining around the county at local diners. And sharing the deliciousness with YOU!

The crew from the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau and other guests enjoy lunch at Tammy’s Country Kitchen in Nelsonville, Ohio.

This week, we headed to Nelsonville to dine at Tammy’s Country Kitchen. Tammy’s is known for its “down home” atmosphere, friendly charm, and home style cooking. The kind of place where everyone knows everyone and smiles are aplenty.

Myrna & Tammy – the women behind the delicious food!

First things first. Let’s talk desserts. We had the pleasure of meeting Tammy and her mother, Myrna, who is the baker of the delicious desserts. We didn’t actually have dessert first… but we did get a glimpse of the pies & cakes before we dined. Planning ahead is crucial!

Our delicious tray of desserts.

Pies included apple, pecan, peanut butter and banana split. Available cakes were yellow with chocolate icing, triple chocolate and german chocolate. We tried most of them. All were a-a-amazing!

Omelet breakfast; cooked to perfection.

In addition to all the desserts, our crew dined on a variety of dishes.

Club sandwich

Sandwiches stacked high, breakfast omelets and meat & potato dinners.

Chopped steak with mashed potatoes & gravy

Everything delicious; everything served with a smile. We shared a TON of laughs during this trip. Tammy’s is a relaxed, comfortable and tasty place to eat. Give it a try! You’ll see why it has stood the test of time.

The banana split pie… a meal in its own right!

We’ll be taking a one week hiatus from #DinerDayWednesday next week, as we attend Ohio Tourism Day in Columbus on the Statehouse Lawn.

In the meantime, please tell us; where should we go next?
