February is nearly over, but that doesn’t mean you have to slouch through the rest of winter. Perk yourself and your week up with these five events. There’s no reason not to get out there and explore Athens County!

Fox N’ Hounds with Hocking River String Band 2/26

Visit Casa Nueva Restaurant & Cantina to start your Friday night off with a special  performance by the Fox N’ Hounds alongside the Hocking River String Band. This show is sure to be the perfect pairing with your favorite Casa burrito and house-made margarita.

Lake Hope State Park Wildlife Watch 2/26

Bust out your hiking boots and polish off your camera for this leisurely walk through some of Lake Hope State Park‘s most lively natural habitats. Listen to the sounds of nature along this guided tour and watch as the park’s inhabitants come alive just in time for the beginning of spring. There will be many opportunities for photographers to catch wildlife hustling around through the trees and underbrush.

Nelsonville Final Fridays on the Square: Bourbon Street Bash 2/26

The shops, galleries and restaurants along the Nelsonville Public Square will be channeling the Big Easy during this month’s Mardi Gras-inspired Final Friday bash. Enjoy Cajun-inspired cuisine, Dixieland Jazz and a spirit of celebration throughout the square starting at 5:30pm.

David Bromberg Quintet 2/27

Stuart’s Opera House welcomes acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter David Bromberg to Nelsonville this Saturday, starting at 8pm. Bromberg began his love affair with the guitar at age 13 and later played alongside Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Beatles member George Harrison. Don’t miss this chance to listen along to one of the country’s leading guitarists.

OH+5 Border Exhibition at the Dairy Barn 

Tour the historic Dairy Barn Arts Center during their latest art exhibition which showcases contemporary artwork of artists in Ohio, plus its border states. The exhibition lasts through March 12th, but if you want to beat the crowds, we recommend visiting sooner rather than later. General admission is only $6 with students and seniors getting in for $4.
