Athens dresses up in its holiday finest during the month of December. It’s a magical time for kids young and old to head to uptown Athens and experience what only a small town can do. Horse drawn carriage rides around the historic bricks and decorated buildings, crafts and art making for kids AND adults. Holiday movies shown on the big screen at The Athena Cimena. And of course, the arrival of the Jolly Old Elf, himself; Santa! The fun kicks off on Thursday, December 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with the Opening Night, Tree Lighting and Santa’s arrival. The Annual Holiday Shopping Bazaar at The Dairy Barn

Over 40 artisans will be selling their wares at this annual event held at the prestigious Dairy Barn Arts Center. Held on Friday, December 6th (12:00-7:00PM) and Saturday December 7th (9:00 AM-3:00PM), you can shop, sip, sample local food goodies and get unique gifts for your special someone at this beloved event. Watch a holiday classic at The Athena Cinema

One of the best parts about the holidays is watching those classic movies that celebrate the season. The Athena Cinema’s Holiday Film Series is a perfect way to warm up and spend some time with friends and family. Classics, new and old, including Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Polar Express, Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life will be shown throughout the series.  Remember, admission is a non-perishable food item or cash donation.
