Ohio University’s alumni, along with their family and friends, will be returning to Athens for Homecoming. This year, the week-long celebration will be held October 2-7. Thousands of Bobcats, young and old, from near and far, will make their way to Athens to relive the glory days of college. Will you be one of them??

Where to stay:  There are many hotels, cozy and unique bed and breakfasts, cabins and camping spots to choose from.  For old times sake, drive by your former off-campus house or apartment. You might be surprised how much it has changed… or not!

Court Street is waiting for you, Alumni!

Where to park: The Ohio University Alumni Association has a limited number of daily parking spots available during Homecoming. There are also free parking options in dark green and purple university lots, but be sure to read the signs! Other options include the Baker University Center Garage and the Athens City Parking Garage in Uptown Athens. As with any big weekend, parking spots will be greatly coveted. Once you’re here, consider carpools & cabs to cut down on parking frustrations.

Where to eat and drink: Everyone who’s ever been to Athens knows finding a local restaurant to enjoy in isn’t hard. There are dozens of options, and you probably have your favorites. Some classics include Casa Nueva, Bagel Street Deli, Burrito Buggy, Court Street Diner and The Pub.

While many of your former favorite bars or pubs may look just as you remember, many have changed. Athens County is now home to 4 breweries, 3 wineries, a wine bar, beer hall and a cider house.

Where to hear bands, see floats and join the crowd: You CAN’T miss the Homecoming Parade. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning either at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m (more on that HERE). Spirited floats, lively groups and, of course The Marching 110 and the Alumni Band will keep you smiling and dancing. Always a hit with students, alumni & community members of all ages. Check out the 2017 parade route.

Where to celebrate: Tailgating is a must during Homecoming. There are several opportunities to tailgate before Saturday’s football game against Central Michigan. There are several tailgate events for specific student groups and colleges, as well as the Bobcat Bash at Pepsi Tailgreat Park. Then head into Peden Stadium and cheer on the Bobcats. At halftime, be amazed by the performance of The Marching 110 & The Alumni Band.
