December is flying by so fast! Christmas is just a few days away, followed by the New Year. It’s hard to believe that 2017 is almost over. This doesn’t mean that you can’t make the best of the last weeks we have this year; celebrate the end of a year and the start of a new one here in Athens County! Below is a look at our top events for this week that you can look forward to.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 20th & Saturday, Dec. 23rd

Athens Farmers Market

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Come get all your fresh produce and see what all the rave is about at one of the best markets in the nation. Over 100 market vendors offer an assortment of fruits, vegetables, cheese, meats, baked goods, and so much more! The market runs year-round every Saturday while Wednesday markets run until Christmas. Tuesday, Dec. 19th

Kim Richey Concert & Workshop

Workshop @ 1:00 pm; Concert @ 7:00 pm

Fellow musicians shouldn’t miss out on this rare workshop opportunity where you will get to work with two Grammy nominee Kim Richey in a songwriting workshop. The Ohio University graduate will then perform a concert later on that evening. There are admission rates for both events which can either be purchased at the door or at Blue Eagle Music.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 20th

Ohio University Basketball vs. Prairie View

7:00 pm

Cheer on our Bobcats and show your support by coming out to the men’s basketball game as they face Prairie View on Wednesday evening. Get a front row seat at the Convocation Center to see one of the best games of the season. There will be giveaways and prizes for those dedicated fans that show up early as well! Purchase tickets online ahead of time and keep up-to-date with every detail at the OHIO Athletics page.

 

 

Athens County Community Singers 5th Annual Christmas Concert

7:00 pm

Get into the Holiday spirit by attending the Athens County Community Singers 5th Annual Christmas Concert at ARTS/West. You won’t be able to help yourself as you sing along to all the classic and feel-good Christmas tunes. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door not including special group rates. The Singers’ Christmas CD will also be available for purchase at the event.
