Since 1981, Good Works has been serving the vulnerable, voiceless and powerless in rural Appalachia.
The vision of Good Works is to create a community of hope with and for people who are struggling with poverty and homelessness in rural Appalachia. As a Christian community, they seek to grow in their love for God and for their neighbor. They offer contexts through which people in need can experience biblical hospitality, access practical assistance, and share their gifts with others. In doing so, they facilitate ways for people from all walks of life to build relationships of love and service with their neighbors.
Good Works operates two small businesses:
Good Gifts, a small gift store, which sells fair trade products from all over the world through an organization called Ten Thousand Villages. They also operate a Bed and Breakfast. More information on all can be found on their website.
