On the last Friday of the month (with a break in December), galleries, art shops, stores and other businesses (each with their own unique offering) stay open later and the Nelsonville Historic Square Arts District comes alive with activity.

The Majestic Galleries: Opening Night: 9th Annual Majestic National Juried Exhibition. The Majestic’s annual juried exhibition features artists from around the country who work in various media. Juror Dennis Harrington is the Director of the Weston Art Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Stuart’s Opera House presents Fright Night from 6:00pm-9:00pm in the Opera House. ALL EVENTS ARE FREE! Celebrate Halloween weekend at Stuart’s Opera House for a night of scary fun for all ages! Events include: Costume Contests with CASH PRIZES (for kids and adults), Spooky Storytelling, Fort Street Cemetery Ghost Walk, Magic, Cartoons, Kids Games & Activities, Bobbing for Apples, Photo-booth, and more! The Stuart’s Opera House bar will be open for the grown-ups too! Fun for the whole family at Fright Night!

Nelsonville Public Library: Opening Night: Enjoy the whimsical self-portraits of Charlie Touvell as he ponders “Do we make the Art or does the Art make us?” Final Friday for Kids: Make a mask to wear on the square! 5:30-7:00 pm. AND Trick-or-Treat at the Library; costumes encouraged but not required. 5:30-7:30 pm. For Families and kids of all ages. Book Sale: all items just 30¢.
