Celebrate local student artists and enjoy an evening of fun on the historic Nelsonville Public Square this Final Friday! The evening’s festivities include:


  • Natural & Historical Interpretation students from Hocking College giving a tour around the Historic Square.  Meet at the Arch at 5:30.
  • Little Cities of the Black Diamonds is hosting a performance of “Cantilever Theater-Our Voices from the Overhanging Porch” using the balcony at the Dew House for five living history characters, telling their stories.
  • Art & Food returns outside on the Square.

Stuart’s Opera House:  Factory Street Dance Studio Spring Concert. 7pm. Factory Street Studio’s 26th Annual Spring Dance Concert is the culmination of the year’s work for FSS’s students and faculty. Dancers ages 5-18 perform both faculty and student-choreographed modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and pointe pieces.


Hocking Art will show at the former Tish’s Treasures: Opening Night: 2015 Senior Art Exhibition Seniors concentrating in various art disciplines will showcase their work through May 8th. The exhibit will include photography, ceramics and glass.


Starbrick Cooperative Gallery:  Opening Night: Happiness is…the Children’s Art Show by area elementary and middle school artists, curated by their teachers. Student work from Logan Elementary, Athens Middle & High Schools, and Nelsonville High.  In the Window:  Athens High School regional finalists of the Governors Youth Art Show.


Paper Circle:  Opening Night: Just -A-Jar, Works by the Marietta Letterpress. Antique type and wooducts on display. Posters featuring many musicians who have appeared at Stuarts Opera House on display and for sale.


Stuart’s Gallery 1879:  Continuing:  Women on the Line, a poster exhibit of selected poems designed by graphic design students from Ohio University.


The Plaid Butterfly:  is excited to announce the arrival of gorgeous quality-handmade aprons from Amy Bonnette.  (Johanna’s Mom)  These whimsical beauties are functional and sure to delight.  Stop in & try one on.


Nelsonville Library:  Open until 8 pm! For kids & families: Drop in from 5:30-7:00 pm and make a piece of art. All materials will be provided. Today is the last day of our Epic Book Giveaway. ALL BOOKS GIVEN AWAY FREE!!! (We need the space.)
