Focus on Photography

Visually arresting photo exhibits & hands-on demos.

Tonight’s’ Exhibition Openings will be dedicated to the fine art of contemporary photography. Celebrate the beauty, craft and vision of the medium.

Additional hands-on classes, tips from the pros, and demos will allow you to try out new skills on the picturesque Historic Public Square

 

 

  • 6pm: Join photographer Dennis Savage at the Outdoor Majestic“Annex” as he demonstrates how to use a 4×5 field camera and why he still enjoys using it. This is a large format wooden camera that is ideal for architecture, landscapes or portraiture. He will demonstrate camera movements, focusing under the dark cloth, and how to determine exposure time.
  • 6:40: Join artist Aaron Smith at the Outdoor Majestic“Annex”as he showcases Instant cameras and demos Pinhole Polaroids.
  • 7:30: Join photographer Bruce Winn at the Outdoor Majestic“Annex for a photo demo with a medium format camera and a roll film back.
  • 8pm: Join photographer Jim Shirey at Starbrick Gallery for a lesson in focus stacking … a technique for attaining extreme depth of field in photography

 

 

 

Starbrick Cooperative Gallery:  Opening Night: Two Photographers – Two Visions.  Guest Artist Tim Creamer joins Starbrick artist Jim Shirey, presenting their differing views of flowers through the lens.  8pm, join Jim for an informative lesson in focus stacking.

Paper Circle:  Opening Night: Bound. A solo exhibition of works by Ruth Burke.  This  series is connected through repetition, material, maker and the object’s delicate nature.  The objects are a metaphor for the aspects of life simultaneously binding us to something  and everything.

Nelsonville Library:  Open until 8 pm! On exhibit — WednesdayAfternoon Painters: Beautiful works from talented water color painters under the direction of Lisa Schorr. The library will also be featuring acollection of historical photos and postcards from the Nelsonville Area.

Nelsonville Emporium:  Take home a piece of Nature captured in local photography available at the Nelsonville Emporium!

The Plaid Butterfly:  is fully stocked with incense from around the world. Aromatherapy from Ohio, India and Japan.  Need a great handmade gift? We’ve got you covered!

Stuart’s Opera House& Stuart’s Gallery 1879  will return to Final Fridays next month.
