Explore the #1 birding location around Athens and look for migrating warblers, songbirds and more. On this guided hike at the Athens Ridges, you’ll walk a maximum distance of 2 miles. Much of the walk is level, but there is an initial climb on steps and a road, and the trail through the woods includes some moderately steep climbs and descents.
Wear hiking shoes or boots with a good tread. Steady rain will cancel the outing, but mist or light drizzle will not.
Although the primary focus will be birds, your guides will identify wildflowers and other plants for those interested. Guide: Phil Cantino (Athens Conservancy), joined by Stefan Gleissberg.
This event is part of a series of bird walks offered by the Athens Area Birders. With experienced guides, you’ll explore special areas and habitats to find and learn about our avian inhabitants.
Free but limited to 15 participants. Bring your binoculars or borrow from us (provided by Rural Action).
