Nashville’s Los Colognes! at 7:00pm
Stuart’s Opera House presents the FREE Summer Concert Series with free, live music on the Square during Final Fridays. July’s FREE show features Nashville’s Los Colognes! Influences ranging from JJ Cale, the live Dead, and Dire Straits are all worn proudly, with its six members, and particularly the core songwriting duo of drummer Aaron “Mort” Mortenson and guitarist/vocalist Jay Rutherford, making jam music for fans of songwriters, classic rock for a younger generation. There will be a beer garden too! (In case of bad weather the show will move inside of Stuart’s Opera House. The Stuart’s Gallery is closed for renovations and construction.)
The Majestic Galleries: Opening Night: 7pm, Circle ‘Round the Square 12th annual Youth Art Exhibition. An amazing show of identity-based artwork created by sixty 2016 Circle Round the Square participants. Be Your Own Super Hero ceramic figures, Cyanotype Visions- digital images on handmade paper. Charcoal Portraits & Watercolor Paintings.! Also on display: masks and costumes from the performances, collaborative art made with John Sabrow from acid mine pigments. This is a once a year event. Help them celebrate!
Stuarts Opera House: Tonight Only! Circle Round the Square 2016 kid’s company presents: An Evening of Four Short Plays. Stuart’s Opera House, 52 Public Square, at 6:00pm. Free.
Starbrick Cooperative Gallery: Opening Night: The Untamed, Undomesticated, Natural & Wild Women of Starbrick. In their natural habitat…the wild women of Starbrick will consider sharing their visions with you. Also: The Vintage Collectible Basement Collection. Starbrick will now be offering an expanded antiques & collectibles venue. Check it out!
Nelsonville Public Library: Open until 8 pm. Exhibit: Librarians Collect – Step inside the realm of librarians’ personal collections and you’ll see more than just books! Book Sale: All items just 30¢ each!Final Friday for Kids: Drop in from 5:30-7:00pm and make a bicycle craft. Remember – you can check out bicycles at the library!
Paper Circle: Continuing: Nature & Humans: Real & Surreal. Jon Jager’s artworks and illustrations, largely with a surreal bent, bring forth both a cooperative and conflicting relationship between humans and the natural world. A graduate of the Tyler School of Art (Temple University), Jon’s fine art and commercial work shows his acknowledgement of the dichotomy between people and nature and his general interest in the natural world.
