Witness a local staging area for migrating chimney swifts. Dozens, sometimes hundreds of swifts congregate at nightfall and circle until they drop into the chimney. This can be quite spectacular! We will participate in the national swift roost count (chimneyswifts.org) and record the number of swifts entering the chimney. Short introductory program by Stefan Gleissberg.
This free event is part of the 2015 Fall Bird Walks offered by the Athens Area Birders. More walks will be added soon. Join us and discover local bird life with experienced guides. Bring your binoculars or borrow from us (provided by Rural Action). For questions and to RSVP, email email@example.com with the subject “Swift Night”; a confirmation will be sent back to you.
