Acclaimed poet William Olsen will be giving a reading of his work at Ohio University as part of his role as the Program in Creative Writing’s resident poet for the 2015-2016 academic year.
The reading, which will be free and open to the public, will take place in the Walter Hall Rotunda on Thursday, October 8, at 7:30 p.m. A book signing and reception will follow the event.
Olsen, who teaches creative writing and literature at Western Michigan University, has received national recognition for his poems, which often address themes of nature and spirituality.
Hosted by the Creative Writing Program, the event will be the first reading by a visiting writer during the 2015-2016 academic year.
The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005, Olsen is the editor of New Issues Poetry & Prose. His poems and essays, often anthologized, have appeared in The New Republic, Georgia Review, and the Chicago Review, among many other publications. His fifth collection of poetry, “Sand Theory” was published in 2011.
