Women’s Water Workout Conditioning by Kayak

Imagine a workout on water with fresh air in your lungs, morning light awakening your senses and gliding over glistening water by kayak. Imagine your body becoming firmer and your energy level lifting you into the day. Incorporate a once a week kayak fitness workout into your life. Kayaking from the core is the basis for conditioning. Madison will lead us in our workout which consists of 30 minutes of kayaking followed by 30 minutes of body weight exercises and stretching at Strouds Run every Wednesday morning of September from 7-8am. Body weight exercise on the beach will include a simple, effective way to improve balance, flexibility, and strength without machinery. We will incorporate legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abs covering every part of the body. We finish with a cool down stretching and reconnecting our bodies and using this time to thank our bodies and the earth for all that it gives us and does for us.

Madison Donohue, a Hocking College graduate who studied Ecotourism and Adventure Leadership will be co-leading with Mimi Morrison. Madison’s experience with kayaking includes a five day river trip on the Colorado River, six weeks of kayaking in the Caribbean Sea, and becoming ACA certified, as well as Swift Water Rescue certified.

  • Four weeks of kayak and fitness instruction for $200. $160 for BYOB (Bring your own boat), must have a minimum of five participants
  • Located at Strouds Run Beach
  • September 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th (October 4th for rain date)
  • Bring mat for exercises and stretching and water bottle. All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
