Old Man’s Cave is the most well-known name in the Hocking Hills region. Check out the mile-long gorge that features waterfalls, rock formations, cliffs and scenic views. Popular rock formations to see are the Devil’s Bathtub, Sphinx Head, Eagle Rock and Whale in the Wall.
The Grandma Gatewood Trail, a six-mile stretch of Ohio’s Buckeye Trail, begins at the Upper Falls and leads visitors from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls, then ending at Ash Cave. While you’re on the trail, you’ll see a 149-foot tall hemlock tree that’s said to be the tallest tree in Ohio.
Hikers can check out the Gatewood Trail or the Gorge Overlook Trail, both lead to Cedar Falls.
For climbing, be sure to check out the different rock formations which feature some light climbing. Be careful!
