Friends of Strouds Run State Park will host its annual meeting and potluck supper on Thursday, August 22 at 6 pm at the Boathouse Shelterhouse at Strouds Run State Park.
After the meeting, guests will be invited to tour Dow Lake via kayaks provided by Touch the Earth Adventures. If you haven’t seen our newly constructed kayak launch area, come by to see it. It offers a sandy, gradual incline into the water and is 16 ft. wide for easy maneuvering. Although there is no fee to enjoy a kayak tour, donations will be accepted and will benefit Strouds Run.
A brief Treasurer’s Report and President’s report will be given at the meeting.
John Knouse, long-time board member of the Friends of Strouds Run and of the Athens Conservancy, will give a short presentation on the history of land preservation in the Strouds Run area.
Those attending should bring a dish to share.
Friends of Strouds Run is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose members volunteer time to improve the park with projects that would not otherwise be possible due to insufficient funding. Information on Friends of Strouds Run can be found at www.friendsofstroudsrun.org
